Children Are Not Small Adults
At Hi Five Kids Dental & Braces, our entire practice is built on a simple but profound truth: children are not just small adults. They have unique physiological, emotional, and developmental needs that require a specialized approach.
We believe that every child deserves dental care that honors their individuality. Our philosophy is rooted in the understanding that a dental visit is about more than just checking teeth—it is about building a relationship of trust.

We recognize that the experiences a child has with a dentist today will shape their attitude toward their oral health for the rest of their lives. That is why we have dedicated our careers to specialized pediatric care. We don't just treat dental issues; we care for the whole child. From the way we speak to the way our office is designed, every detail is intentional. We are committed to creating an environment where children feel safe, heard, and respected, laying the foundation for a lifetime of healthy, happy smiles.
Our Approach to Care
We practice with a gentle, patient-first mindset. We understand that for a child, the dental chair can be an intimidating place. Our approach involves:
Age-Appropriate Communication
We explain everything in simple, child-friendly terms that children can understand and only then, we do the procedure. This is our golden rule.
Positive Reinforcement
We celebrate every success, no matter how small, to build your child's confidence.
Parent Involvement
You are our partner. We encourage your presence and involvement to help your child feel secure.
Minimally Invasive Dentistry
Our minimally invasive approach prioritizes early detection, prevention and always, conservative treatment.
What Makes Pediatric Dentistry Different
Pediatric dentistry is the pediatric equivalent of pediatrics in medicine. Our doctors have completed 2-3 years of additional specialty training beyond dental school specializing in children's dentistry. This rigorous training focuses on:
- Child Psychology & Development: Child psych and dev, behavior management, preventative tx, Early intervention.
- Behavior Management: Techniques to help anxious or fearful children cope with treatment.
- Prevention: Preventing cavities and encouraging appropriate growth patterns

Creating Positive Experiences
We are on a mission to eliminate dental anxiety. Our office is designed to be a "Dental Home"—a fun, welcoming atmosphere that feels less like a clinic and more like a safe haven. We build trust gradually, never forcing treatment on a child who isn't ready. By moving at your child's pace and celebrating their bravery, we turn potential fear into pride and confidence.

Evidence-Based Excellence
Our care is grounded in science. We strictly follow the clinical guidelines set by the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (CAPD) and the Ontario Dental Association (ODA). We are committed to lifelong learning, constantly updating our techniques and technology to ensure your child receives the safest, most effective care available.
A Family-Centered Approach
We believe that parents are the most important part of the dental team. We are committed to open, honest communication. We will always take the time to answer your questions, explain all treatment options clearly, and respect your family's values and preferences. We believe in shared decision-making, ensuring you feel confident and informed about your child's oral health.
Doctors Who Embody This Philosophy
Our board-certified specialists share a common passion for child advocacy and gentle care. They have dedicated their careers to making dentistry a positive force in children's lives.
